Ok, I'm back.  Haven't posted in forever, I suck, yeah yeah. whatever.  I'm back.

So my summer rocked.  The work itself sucked but the people and the landscape were awesome.  I did many cool, fun, funny, and extremely stupid things which no one will ever know about.

So now I'm back in Ohio with my family.  I leave in exactly one week for Philly, where I will meet other Peace Corps volunteers and get my immunizations.  On the 22nd, I leave for Togo, West Africa.  I will be there for 2 years and three months.  Wow.  I can't believe it's actually coming into being.  I'll have email about once a month (I think) and I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to get snail mail.  My address is

Deborah Lithander, PCV

Le Corps da la Paix

B.P. 3194

Lome, Togo

West Africa

and it will take 3-5 weeks for me to receive it and 3-5 weeks for my return letter to get back to you, so be patient, but I will write.  I will also try to post something on xanga during my once-a-month access to the internet. Oh, I forgot.  The first three months I will be in training in the capital city, and so I think I will have regular access there.  I will try and post a lot then (and not like I posted in Colorado).

WARNING:

DRUNKEN ENTRY

So today is my two week anniversary of being in Colorado.  It's amazing how quickly I've met people on the ranch and made friends.  I feel like I've been here for so much longer...

On Friday I went to a bar called Scootin' Blues with a couple of people from the ranch.  I had a couple Jaeger bombs and then danced my butt off to a cover band with a cross-dressing lead singer who had opened his dress, exposing a white bra full of dollar bills.  Interesting.  I danced and danced and danced.  My roommate, Shannon danced too--with a guy named Jay who she had made out with the night before, and with a guy named Matt who she made out with the night after.  Damn....coming here forced me to question all of my beliefs and convictions because everyone I work with has so many different perspectives on life.  I work with a hard-core Mormon, a self-decieving flirt, an athiest, vegetarians, cowboys, ignorant people, a guy from Duke (who does everything for everyone but himself), a musician, a priest-in-training (he quit), wild boys, hippies...I mean, I didn't question WHAT I believed--I finally have that figured out--I just questioned the VALIDITY of what I believe.  This who entry is all pretty hairbrained and not what I expected to talk about at all, but whatever..  I'm having a great time...working like insanely...in the middle of nowhere with a  LOT of drama and a LOT of gossip and a LOT of fun and awesomely cool people.  I'm stretched and I'm thinking, which is what I wanted out of this summer.   More to come soon....I MISS YOU GUYS!!!!  As much as I'm growing and meeting cool people...no one out here is as awesome as you guys....no one I can talk to in the same way.....by the way not responsible for things I say slash type while drunk.

P.S. Country Music 24/7 sucks I want to dance to some freakin' ATL hip-hop.

NOT UPDATING FOR OVER THREE WEEKS!!!!!!!  Though I am liable to be tied up, stoned and forced out of the village because of this unforgivable behavior, I beg all to have mercy on this wayward xanger.  I'm back on the wagon, after falling off during a series of road trips with parents and friends in which the internet was either an inappropriate luxury to ask for (even though I asked for it anyways) or simply just not available.  (The Oil Belt Christian Camp near Flora, IL didn't even get cell phone service).

Alright, now that I've begged my pardon.  Here's the scoop on my suddenly soon to become exciting life. (This means, fortunately, no more mind-numbing daytime TV).  If all goes as planned, I will be leaving for a ranch out west (don't know which one or where yet) mid-june and working either as a housekeeper or waitstaff until mid-september.  Upon my return home I will be departing on the 22nd of September to a french-speaking country in Africa (don't know which one yet) to work as a Peace Corps volunteer for the following two years and three months.  Visitors are allowed and encouraged to come, all of my daring and adventuresome friends.  Speaking of which,

I MISS ALL OF MY DARING AND ADVENTURESOME FRIENDS.

Why does nobody cool live in Ohio?
